Bowmanville, October 8, 2024 – Introducing Jakob Hampton, one of the newest members of Your Home Team. When you first meet him, you will be drawn to his wonderful accent. During the conversation, you might also catch a reference to a ‘boot’ or ‘bonnet’ when he shows off a new Toyota.
Yep, you guessed it. Jakob is a transplant from the UK. In fact, he made the transition to Canada rather recently. Mid-August, to be exact. Why would someone make a significant trans-Atlantic move? Love, naturally. His wife-to-be is from Pickering. To answer the gravitational pull of home and family, they decided to get married and settle here, in Canada.
If you were to guess Jakob’s sport, you would probably say ‘football’. You would be partly correct, with one small clarification. On this side of the world, we call it ‘soccer’. He played competitively for almost 20 years. Despite the rigors of the game, he came through none the worse for wear, still smiling.
Aside from driving on the ‘wrong’ side of the road, he says Canada is ‘awesome’. Really friendly, with a nice accent. We are so happy to have his positive, energetic presence on Your Home Team.
